We deep dive into local and international case studies that help you understand the risks and why you should better stop right now from making claims you consider attractive, although they are misleading.

We walk you through both existing legislation (unfair commercial practices) and the newly adopted Green Claims Directive.

About the Green Claims Directive:
Purpose: It aims to combat greenwashing, ensuring that environmental claims made by businesses are accurate and substantiated.
Scope: It applies to a wide range of products and services, emphasizing transparency in communication related to environmental aspects.
Substantiation: Companies must have credible evidence to support their environmental claims, promoting honesty and reliability in marketing.
Specific Criteria: Clear criteria are outlined for various environmental claims, such as carbon footprint reduction, recyclability, and biodegradability.
Consumer Understanding: It emphasizes the importance of using clear and understandable language in environmental communication to avoid confusion for consumers.
Enforcement: National authorities will be responsible for enforcing the Directive, with potential penalties for non-compliance.
Transitional Period: There might be a transitional period for businesses to adjust their practices and comply with the new requirements.
